Mixer with stirrer-induced mixing vortex

The mixing chamber is of egg-shape with the layer or the small end lowermost and has a stirrer which at the bottom induces an upward spiral flow in the liquid towards the free surface where solid, liquid or gaseous additives introduced throught upper or tangential inlet are entrained for downward flow into the liquid along the axis of the chamber. An irradiating source may be located at the upper end. To mix large volumes, the chamber is open-topped and sits in a large reservoir. Applications include water purification and mixing of mineral drinks.
