Sheets are separated in turn from the top of a pile 5, Fig. 1, resting against guide rails 4, Figs. 1, 2 and 4, by a plurality of suction nozzles 2 clamped to a suction rod 1 movable along the path shown by the arrow in Fig. 1 to deposit the sheets on the feed board of a printing machine. To prevent double feed, there is provided a horizontal rail 10 vertically adjustable on the rails 4, to which rail 10, between the rails 4, are vertically adjustable a plurality of rails 6 bent inwardly at 6a, each rail 6 having attached thereto on its inner side a shorter rail 7, and a strip 8 of rubber or rubber-like synthetic resin being clamped between the rails 6 and 7, the upper end of the strip being bent inwardly over the top of the rail 7 by the bent end 6a of the rail 6, and extending inwardly to a greater extent than the bent end 6a.
