[Also in Divisions A5 and E1] A device for separating a measured quantity of liquid from liquid in a flushing cistern 10 and mixing the quantity with a contained preparation in block form e.g. a disinfectant 19, includes a siphon extending from above the level of the preparation for discharging the mixture externally of the device. As the cistern 10 is filled, water enters the device filling the region not occupied by a block of the disinfectant 19, air escaping through a part 17a. On emptying of the cistern a quantity of the mixture is discharged from the device by a siphon formed from a short tube 18 and a long tube 16. The siphon may be external or internal of the device and the upper part or the whole of the siphon may be removable with a lid. Further, the device may be provided with two chambers either separated by a dividing wall (35) Fig. 13 (not shown) or one chamber within the other e.g. Fig. 16 (not shown), in which case there may be one upper short limb of a siphon provided for each chamber connecting with a single long limb (39).
