H-isotope-labelled cpds - prepn by enzymatic isotope exchange

Stereospecifically H-isotope-labelled cpds. which are substrates for nicotinamide-ademine-dinucleotide- and nicotinamide-adenine-dinucleotide-phosphate-dependent dehydrogenate, NAD and diaphorase or NADP and glutathione reductase with a cpd. to be labelled, pref. a cpd. with at least one primary or sec. OH gp. or a sec. NH2 gp., in labelled water. Enantiomeric cpds. of formula : CHH bd (where H is D or T and b and d are different substnts.), can be prepd. by incubating CHwhich do not need to be separated into isomers, are useful in biochemistry and in the study of reaction mechanisms.
