The conductor consists of twisted strands with paper insulation to be used as windings for transformers, choke oils, etc. there is a high resistance against short circuit in spite of being tightly pressed together. - Individual twisted strands are stiffened by wrapping a tape made from shrinkable material around the conductor. The shrinkable tape is wrapped around the conductor after leaving the cording head of the twisting machine while being subjected to heat treatment. It is subsequently crumpled by the supply of heat and then wrapped around the insulating paper. The heat is supplied via a drum.
