Tris-salt of theophylline-7-acetic acid - useful as anti-fatigue and anti-exhaustion agent

Title salt of formula (I):- which is prepd. by reacting theophylline-7-acetic acid with (HOCH2)3CNH2 opt. in a solvent or diluent (pref. H2O and/or an alcohol such as MeOH or EtOH) and may be pptd. using a ketone, has an excellent effect in fatigue and exhaustion resulting from physical or metal effort (including rheumatic psychogenic pains), but does not have the undesirable side-effects of conventional stimulants. Its activity is even greater when it is administered in combination with caffeine.
