Transparent panels of glass-reinforced, polyester sheet, pref. having 20-40 wt.% glass fibre as mat in 80-60% resin matrix, with the edges of the panel wrapped about a metal frame. Panels are cast on a non-silicone release agent, (polyvinyl alcohol film), using 700-1500 g/m2 resin/700-1100 g./m2 glass mat/700-1500 g./m2 resin. Esp. for display panels with back illumination. They have greater strength and resistance to impact or crack growth than panels of polymethylmethacrylate.
