Thermal expansion of fan elastomeric block in a confined space is used to pressurise a moulding material against a suitable model. Pref. a silicone based elastomer is used for moulding thermosetting resins. Also suitable for thermoforming a thermoplastic film against a contoured mould surface. An exothermic resin cure may supply the heat. The moulding operation is self-contained, can be carried out under vacuum or in a controlled atmosphere.
