Coloured ceramic tiles - using multiple extrusion die to save pigment costs

Method of making coloured ceramic tiles comprises extruding simultaneously an uncoloured substrate paste and a coloured surfacing paste using two plungers extruding into one nozzle, and cutting the extruded strip into appropriate lengths, then drying and firing in the usual way. The coloured surfaces have considerable depth of the same colour but do not use as much expensive pigment as tiles which are coloured throughout.
