1382721 Anthraquinone derivatives GAF CORP 21 Feb 1972 [5 March 1971] 7908/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] 1-Anthraquinonyl isopropyl carbonate is prepared by reacting 1-hydroxy anthraquinone with isopropyl chlorocarbonate. 1-Anthaquinonyl chloroethyl carbonate is prepared by reacting 1-hydroxy anthraquinone with chloroethyl chlorocarbonate. 1-Anthraquinonyl ethyl carbonate is prepared by reacting 1-hydroxy anthraquinone with ethyl chlorocarbonate. 1-Anthraquinonyl dimethyl carbamate is prepared by reacting 1-hydroxy anthraquinone and dimethyl carbamyl chloride. Employing the procedure above diethylcarbamyl chloride, diphenylcarbamyl chloride, ethylcarbamyl chloride and N-methyl, N-phenyl carbamyl chloride are reacted with 1-hydroxyanthraquinone to give the corresponding carbamates. 1-Anthraquinonyl piperidinylcarbamate is prepared by reacting 1-hydroxyanthraquinone with piperidinyl carbamyl chloride. Ethyl (1-anthraquinonyloxy) acetate is prepared by reacting 1-hydroxyanthraquinone in N-methyl-pyrrolidone, with sodium methylate and ethyl bromoacetate. 1-Anthraquinonyloxy acetic acid is prepared by reacting the ethyl ester in ethanol/water with KOH and HCl.
