A moving coil assembly for an electric meter comprises a coil wound on a former 1, and two pivot supports 12, 13 mounted on the former, the supports being made of a resiliently-flexible plastics material and being spaced from the coil so that they are able to flex under load and thus act as vibration dampers and shock absorbers. The supports have grooves 9-11 which slidably engage projections 2-5 on the former, and may be provided with slots 23, 24 or areas of reduced thickness to increase their resilience. Leaf-springs may be either embedded in or placed over the supports. The pivot pins 15 are fixed in bushes 14 moulded integrally with the supports. A rigid plate 16, for attaching to the moving assembly a pointer 17, counterbalance 18 or spiral-spring holder, may be fixed to one or each support at discrete points by ultrasonic welding.
