C, engine, the second cylinder 2 is at a V-angle γ of between 60 degrees and 80 degrees to the first cylinder 1 while the crank 5 of the second cylinder is at an angle α of between 15 degrees and 45 degrees to the crank 4 of the first cylinder, α being measured in the opposite direction to γ, and the angular ignition interval is 360 degrees Œ (γ + α). Preferably γ lies between 65 degrees and 75 degrees and may be substantially 70 degrees, and α lies between 20 degrees and 40 degrees and may be substantially 30 degrees.
