1291375 Aluminium killed steel VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISEN-UND STAHLWERKE A G 27 Jan 1970 [28 Jan 1969] 3892/70 Heading C7D Non alloyed or low alloyed killed steel having a low carbon content which is continuously cast by pouring from a ladle to a tundish and from there to a cooled mold in the presense of atmospheric oxygen, is produced by adding the aluminium in two stages, the first to yield a metallic aluminium content of 0À005-0À012% and the second, to yield the desired composition, being added at a stage where the casting stream will no longer be in contact with the atmosphere. The second addition may be made continuously e.g. in the form of aluminium wire fed through a steel guide tube. Preferably the casting tube from the tundish ends below the casting level in the mould.
