WIDE RANGE DIMENSION MEASURING APPARATUS

Measuring apparatus for measuring the diameter of a workpiece over an extended range thereof being provided with first and second measuring members to engage the workpiece and respectively being mounted on the first and second support members. The first support member is slidably mounted on a tilting base and the second support member is slidably mounted on the first support member. A first means is provided to move the first support member relative to the tilting base and a second means is provided to move the second support member relative to the first support member in a direction opposite to that of the first support member by an amount twice that of the movement of the first support member whereby the spacing between sad measuring members is variable without changing the center position of said spacing.
