Early diagnosis of cancer - with hydrogenated dialkyldioxo -pyridine reagent solns

Cancerous disease is detected at an early stage (even in the precancerous stage) by treating a urine sample with a soln. of an at least partially hydrogenated dialkyldioxo-pyridine (pref. a 4,4-dialkyl-2,6-dioxo-tetrahydropyridine) in a mineral acid. If the test is positive, after standing several hours and subsequent brief gentle heating there is obtained a red colouration; which can be evaluated visually or photometrically. The test is rapid and can be carried out by untrained staff without great expense using stable reagents.
