1399534 Cassette changers PIONEER ELECTRONIC CORP 20 Oct 1972 [26 Oct 1971 (3)] 48518/72 Heading G5R A magazine 2 containing a plurality of cassettes A1, A2, ... standing on edge one behind the other is moved towards and away from an upright tape deck 3 so that the foremost cassette A1 is carried over a cassette-discharge aperture 27, 28 into engagement with the deck 3 but on withdrawal is allowed to drop through the aperture. As shown, release of a solenoid 23, Fig. 2, allows springs 26 to pull the magazine 2 towards the deck 3 so that a lever 20 leaves a stop 22 and allows spring 13 acting on a plate 12 to push the cassettes forward in the magazine. Pins 17c moving in inclined slots 18a, Fig. 1, withdraw claws 17a from the magazine, and the foremost cassette A1 is pushed against the front 2d of the magazine and then engaged with the deck 3. A solenoid 11, Fig. 6, brings a magnetic head 7 and a pinch roller 8 into operation for recording or playback and also, through levers 34, 36, causes a plate 30 to push any previouslydischarged cassette off a platform 29 on to guide pins 31, Fig. 1. On release of solenoid 11 and re-energization of solenoid 23, the magazine 2 is withdrawn from the deck 3 and the claws 17a are inserted behind the foremost cassette A1 which is released to drop through the aperture 27, 28 on to the platform 29.
