The clock pulse generator, for PCM systems, produces clock pulses from gaps in a pulse train whilst retaining the mean number of pulses per unit time. The input pulse train acts as clock pulses until a gap appears in it. At that point first auxiliary pulses are released to act as clock pulses. The auxiliary pulse frequency is chosen to be less than the input train's frequency such that each 360 dec. phase jump occuring at each gap can be compensated before the next gap appears. When the phases of input and auxiliary pulses again coincide the input pulse train is again used as the clock pulses.
