The clock has an extension cable (10) for a loudspeaker (8) which is combined with a cushion (9) so that sleep inducing signals can also be used. These are pulse signals, corresponding to the rate of the heart beats, and the pulses (13) generated for the clock section (2) are used. They are passed to the output stage (15) for the alarm section, which has a connection (11) for the extension cable. The pulses from the timing section (16) are used to operate a stepping motor for the clock, and can be diverted by a switching system to a pulse shaper (17) so that double pulses are obtained for each timing pulse, after being rectified by a diode (19) with a bridging switch (20) across it.
