A machine for cutting, perforating, embossing, smoothening and shagreening of leather, plastic or metal foils or cardboard by the so-called sandwich process, is fitted with a pair of pressure rolls and with two pairs of endless elements to feed the sandwich to the rolls. The lower roll which is not adjustable in height has preferably by two V-grooves at each end. Two pairs of V-belts extend from them to return pulleys on both sides of the roll gap. This ensures a satisfactory feed of the sandwich into the roll gap, even when the gap has been set much smaller than the sandwich thickness to produce a high pressure or a large cutting stroke.
