1377343 Basic alcohols and esters A H ROBINS CO Inc 22 Jan 1973 [28 Jan 1972] 3189/73 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (Am = C 1-8 alkylamino, di(C 1-8 alkyl)amino, piperidino; R=H, C 2-9 alkanoyl; RSP1/SP = H, halogen, CF 3 , C 1-8 alkyl or alkoxy; n = 2, 3) and their acid addition salts, are prepared by (a) reacting a 1-cyclopropyl-3-amio-1-propanone with a phenyl Grignard and/or phenl lithium or reacting cyclopropyl phenyl ketone with a 3- aminopropylmagnesium halide, followed in either case by hydrolysis, or (b) hydrolysing an N-acyl derivative, optionally followed by O- acylation and/or salt formation. The preparation of 1-cyclopropyl-3-(N-methylacetamido) - 1 - (m - trifluoromethylphenyl)- 1 propanol is described. The alcohols are antidepressants and the esters are analgesics; they may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
