1384743 Tare annuling C CURIONI 12 May 1972 [25 June 1971] 22442/72 Heading G1W A manually operated device for tare compensation in the use of a weighing machine, includes a rotatable drum 5 acted upon by a spring 7 connected to the balance mechanism of the machine and in the opposite direction by a return spring 4, the device normally being locked in a zero position by a spring-biased pawl 15 and arm 14. A key 10, corresponding to the tare weight, when depressed, engaged a toothed sector 2 and releases the pawl 15 from arm 14, whereupon the drum 5 then rotates under the action of spring 4 until an abutment 9 on the drum bears against and retains a stop portion 11 of the depressed key, the spring 7 thereby being extended and thus applying a force to the mechanism proportional to the tare weight. An indicator dial 19 fast with drum 5 simultaneously shows the tare weight value through an aperture in housing 1.A crank 18 is provided for resetting the device to zero.
