1312332 Inserting figuring threads J MULLER 30 April 1970 [5 May 1969] 20803/70 Headings D1E and D1K A figuring or fastening thread 8 is inserted into a fabric 1 during weaving by a feed member 9 which passes downwardly through the warps to form a loop 11 of figuring thread through which weft 5 is inserted whereby the figuring thread is secured in the fabric. The feed member 9 reciprocates verticaly, and may also be shogged weftwise when out of the warps. A plurality of feed members may be used to insert a number of figuring or fastening threads. Weft 5 is inserted in loops by a needle 6, the loops being retained on the opposite side of the fabric by a latch selvedge needle 7. Non textile objects such as wire (12), Fig. 5 (not shown), or rows of beads or zip fastener claws may be fastened to the fabric by the thread 8.
