New cpds of formula (I) (where D is a gp. of formula (IIa)-(IId): n=3-5; R1 is H or lower alkyl, R2 and R3 are lower alkyl) are pref. prepd by reacting a cpd (III) with a cpd (IV): (where E is a gp. of formula (Va, (Vb) or (Vc): R4 and R5 are trialkylsilyl or tetrahydropyranyl; R6 is H or trialkylsilyl; X is halogen), opt. oxidising the prod and then removing the protecting gps.
