Application of an applique to a support - using a spacer layer of filler material

Applique e.g. cut out figures, is applied to a support by (a) applying a spacer layer of filler matl. on one side of a support matl. e.g. plastic and/or textile matl, (b) applying a layer of sheet matl e.g. plastic and/or textile matl. on the spacer layer, =1 of these matls. being latently adhesive (c) cutting through =1 of these layers along the peripheral line of the desired applique, (d) gradually pressing the layer of sheet matl against the support matl at definite areas within the peripheral line, while the latently adhesive matl is activated so that the layer of sheet matl. is bonded to the support matl, in the areas and over the spacer layer, the remaining areas thus forming a resilient three dimensional applique, and (e) applying a bonded coating on the other side of the support matl, so that the finished applique can be fastened to a desired surface e.g. automobile bodywork, clothing, furniture or walls.
