The laminate is formed from a carrier of fabric, film or non-woven matl. while the foam is a polyurethane of polyether or polyester, PVC, polyethylene, and polypropylene. The foam is stretched in one direction, and then applied by adhesive or flame bonding, with additional reinforcing adhesive strips if required. The foam is then allowed to reassert itself, to give the required surface structure such as cord, pique or wales. This gives a simulated surface effect without using complex machinery.
