Sheets of flexible material with tridimensional superficial designs in relief are produced by (a) applying by bonding, heating or sealing an elastic foam sheet (pref. polyurethane) onto another sheet the foam sheet having stronger longitudinal and/or transverse elongation than the other sheet, (b) stabilising the bond between the sheets, and (c) allowing laminated material to relax. Specif. the elastic foam strips are fixed in the longitudinal or transverse extended state to separate zones of the other sheet, the former being extended by a 1.12-1.6 pref. 1.3-1.5. The additional sheet is of textile or nonwoven material, a plastic sheet, synthetic leather or layers of parallel threads.
