1451147 Fork lift trucks NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 4 March 1974 [7 March 1973] 9549/74 Heading B8H The lift assembly 10 of a fork lift truck (not shown) comprises a frame 14 which is vertically movably mounted on the truck mast (not shown), the frame 14 incorporating upper and lower bars 16, 18 on which a pair of forks 20, 22 are slidably mounted for movement towards and away from each other, the distance between the forks 20, 22 being adjustable by means of a fork distance adjusting means 28 which comprises a driver wheel 30 which can be rotated by means of a hand-operated handle or a motor driven mechanism (not shown) and a pair of loop cables 38, 40 passed about the wheel 30 and about idler pulleys 34, 36 respectively, the cables 38, 40 being attached to the forks 20, 22 at connection points 42, 44 respectively whereby on rotation of the wheel 30 in the direction of the arrow A the forks move towards one another while rotation of the wheel in the direction of the arrow D moves the forks away from one another. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 (not shown) there is only one loop cable (56) which passes about a drivable rotatable wheel (52) and an idler wheel (54) and is attached to the forks (20, 22).
