The azo dyes used are of formula (I): (where D is the residue of a (substd.) (hetero) aromatic diazo component free from ionic fgps. X is H or (substd) alkoxy. Y is H, halogen, (branched and/or substd) alkyl gp. or -NH-CO-R2: R1 is H, (branched and/or substd) alkyl, (substd.) alkenyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl, alkoxy, or phenoxy, or hetaryl, -NR3R4, or -NR5, R2 is R1, excluding -NR3R4 and -NR5, or is -NH-R6, R3 and R4 are H, (branched and/or substd) alkyl (substd) alkenyl, cycloalkyl, ar(alk)yl. R5 is alkyl, R6 is as R3 and R4 but excluding H). They are obtd by coupling a diazotised (hetero)aromatic amine D-NH2, with a component (I) where the D-N=N gp. is absent.
