Fabric conditioning compsn. esp. a softener, for use in a container discharging under pressure, consists of (I) lanolin and/or a hydrophilic lanolin deriv., (II) a foaming agent, and (III) a fluid medium in which I is dissolved or dispersed, and (IV) a liquefied gas or pressurised gas which forms part of the fluid medium, and acts as propellant for the compsn., in a proportion sufficient to generate a pressure effecting the formation and discharge of a foam. The compsn., when discharged by a container which is normally sealed to fluids, produces a very durable stable foam allowing the conditioning compsn. to be distributed over the surfaces of the fabric with which the foam is contacted during a tumbling operation. Method gives excellent fabric softening action, with uniform distribution over the fabric during tumbler drying. Low proportion of propellant is required.
