Electrode for potentiometric determination of ions - having porous mass impregnated with ion-selective material, and bonded to layer of polymer material

The electrode is composed of a porous mass (pref. cellulose acetate (nitrate)) which is coated with a hydrophobic polymer material (pref. PVC). The porous mass is impregnated with ion selective material (pref. an ion exchanger, valinomycin or didecylphosphoric acid dioctyl phenyl phosphate) specific relative to the ions to be detd. The electrode is relatively stiff and is resistant to vibration and deformation during continuous analysis.
