An electrode material comprising a composite material comprising a composition formed by compounding 0.5 to 5 mass parts of a conductive polymer having nitrogen atoms per 100 mass parts of a porous carbon material, wherein the nitrogen / carbon ratio formed by a ratio of the peak area the nitrogen atom to the peak area of the carbon atoms in the spectrum obtained by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy is from 0.005 to 0.05, and wherein the number average molecular weight of the conductive polymer is from 2,000 to 20,000.
