1361587 Hydroextraction and oiling of yarns KANEBO Ltd 16 June 1972 [26 June 1971] 28330/72 Heading D1L [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for removing water from and subsequently oiling yarns wound on pirns P comprises a closed container 3, a perforated spindle 4 rotatably mounted in the container on upper and lower carriers 7 and 8 respectively, a pulley 11 connected via belt 13 to variable speed motor 12 for rotating the spindle 4, a discharge pipe 19 for discharging from the container aqueous liquid centrifugally extracted from the pirns P, and means comprising internal conduit 14, pipe 16, pump 18 and reservoir 17 for supplying an oiling agent to the interior of the spindle. In use yarn wet from e.g. a dyeing operation is placed on the spindle and centrifugally hydroextracted by rotating the spindle at high speed (e.g. 2,500 r.p.m.), the water removed being discharged through pipes 16 and 22. After hydroextraction oiling agent is pumped to the interior of spindle 4 which is rotated at a lower speed (e.g. 500 r.p.m.) until impregnation is completed and then finally at a higher speed (e.g. 2,500 r.p.m.), the excess oiling agent being discharged from the container back into the reservoir 17 via pipes 16 and 23 and cross valve 21.
