Drying and aligning graphite or coloured - pencil leads

Drying is effected at speed, without wire mesh and without heat losses, by means of perforated, cylindrical drying containers which are loaded with leads and carried through a drying tunnel pivotally on a chain and so rotated by a sprocket drive. Filling and unloading stations are fitted in such a way that each container stands clear of the chain in these stations. Each container pref. has a sprocket for a chain which keeps each container turning as it rides through the tunnel, this chain being independent of the main conveying chain.
