Tar separation from gas - from coke ovens,by venturi washing with ammonia-water

Tar fog remaining in coke oven gas after cooling and condensation is agglomerated by spraying in a venturi washer with aq. cooler condensate, with a pressure drop of 250-350 mm. water gauge in the gas stream. The water-tar mixt. is then removed from the gas using a centrifugal separator and returned to the condensate slop container in a usual tar-condensate separator. Tar content of the gas is reduced to around 25 mg/Nm3.
