Vacuum moulded hollow closed plastics articles - using sintered metal surfaces to apply suction to outer faces

A mould for maing closed, hollow, thermoplastics articles is constituted of half-moulds with compressing edges for closing the seam of the moulding; the article is vacuum-formed by the application of a vacuum to the mould void. The half-moulds or inserts mounted in them are of sintered metal to permit uniform application of the vacuum to the outer face of the moulding.
