Knitting needle motion for warp knitters - esp. raschel machines tilting needles at top of stroke

Higher speeds and reduced loading of the loops on the needle shanks, esp. in Raschel machines, are obtd from a crank drive connected to a four joint transmission, which, in addn. to the rising and falling motion of the knitting needles, imparts a tilting movement to them at the height of the top edges of the fixed knock-over plate. The swing lever moved by the crank is one of a pair and the link to a rocker lever also carries the knitting needles.
