One end of a horizontal beam carries a rotating bucket wheel, which moves in a vertical plane parallel to the beam. The other end of the beam pivots about a horizontal axis when actuated by a hydraulic cylinder. The beam is carried by a three wheeled vehicle in such a manner that the fixed beam end is located above the rear end wheel of the vehicle. The top face of the beam is provided with a conveyor belt which carries the material placed on it by the bucket wheel to the rear end of the vehicle from where it moves onto a second conveyor or a truck. The main wheels, placed on either side of the front end of the vehicle have individual drives and steering. This makes it possible to move the vehicle in such a way that the bucket wheel end of the beam describes an arc in a horizontal plane. If the axes of the three vehicle wheels are parallel with the beam, the vehicle travels sideways. This different modes of operation enable the removal of the bulk heap in the most economical way possible.
