The colour television camera has the colour strip filter located between the camera objective and the camera tube signal electrode. In addition to the chrominance signal, the channels provide three colour signals and a pilot signal. The filter consists of three superposed layers. Each layer consists of alternately transparent strips, perpendicular to the scanning direction, suppressing their complementary colour. Strips in one layer are shifted sideways by one third of their width with respect to those in the adjacent layer, so that one strip and two strips overlapping by one third of their width are alternately inserted in the light path. At certain distances the superposition of three colour strips produces opaque pilot strips.
