The colour television camera has a photodiode array (CCD1) whose elements (D11, etc.) form a raster and can be interrogated to obtain an electrical signal proportional to incident light intensity. A raster filter (RF1) is located in front of the photodiode array and its elements correspond to those of the array. The output signals from the array are passed to a demultiplexer (DMX1) controlled (S TE1) such that signals from those array elements facing the same colour elements in the filter are passed to the same colour channel (r1, g1, b1).
