The device for lifting or opening the human upper eyelid, in case of ptosis of the upper eyelid or myasthenia gravia, comprises a permanent magnet mounted to a spectacle-frame. The permanent magnet is brough sufficiently close to a magnet implanted in the inner eyelid or placed externally on it. The paralysed upper eyelid is thus opened by magnetic attraction and when the spectacle-frame is moved, wholly or partly closed again. Direct manual contact, which can be difficult and painful, is avoided. The magnet is attached to a lever linkage.
