Pneumatic/hydraulic riveter for blind rivets comprises a pneumatic cylinder with a piston of which the piston rod is guided sealingly in an adjacent hydraulic cylinder, and a work cylinder attached to the hydraulic cylinder with a piston bearing a chuck for the rivet shaft, a manually actuated air valve, and a spring between the work piston and cylinder end of return of moving parts to their starting positions. Between the work and hydraulic cylinders is a connecting bore. The pneumatic cylinder includes at one end an outlet and post-suction opening leading to the atmosphere, and at the other end a rapid air discharge device consisting of a plate valve, valve housing, spring and valve head.
