A method for producing a moving source of radiation, especially for the generation of radio scanning beams, without using mechanically moving radiators, using a series of radiators or antennae in alignment which are brought into action in succession in such a way that the power radiated from each element is a function of time which overlaps that of the adjacent element. Differing periods of maximum radiation give the desired overall radiation pattern. Influencing periods of at least four elements overlap.
