Lifting fork mechanism for fork lift truck - load remains horizontal when truck tilts

The lifting fork consists of two side by side, L shaped tines (4, 5) interconnected by a flat member (6) which passes through a slot in the vertical arm (4b) of one tine and through a slot in a block (8) mounted on the rear of the vertical arm (5b) of the other tine. The horizontal (6) acts as a slide for horizontal movement and the vertical (5b) of the second tine acts as a slide for vertical movement. Lugs (15) on the rear face of the vertical arm of the second tine and other lugs (10) on the rear of the block (8) carry pivot pins (17, 12) for a hydraulic piston which can move the block (8) up and down the vertical arm (5b) of the second tine so as to raise and lower the first tine. This enable a load carried to be tilted to counter act the tilt of the lift truck.
