To improve the ergonomics with regard to the lift mast control, the hydraulic operating mechanism of a series-fabricated 1.4 to 2.0 t electric fork-lift was realised on the basis of electrical remote control of the hydraulic valve. Two joystickswere integrated in the armrest for this purpose, one for control of the mast functions lift/lower and tilt, and one for control of the additional hydraulic system (built-on accessories). The drive's arm rests in a relaxed position on the individuallyadjustable armrest. Great ease of handling is achieved thanks to the small forces required to operate the joysticks and their convenient arrangement. Excellent adaptability to the drivers needs and small handling forces both contribute to reducing thelong-term strain on the driver. Relaxed working results in higher throughput. Since the well-proven and standardised arrangement of the control elements is retained, it is easy for the driver to change from a conventionally controlled vehicle to one withnew controls, and vice versa.
