Appts. for carbon dioxide absorption from fluids - useful for renewing air in living quarters, e.g. submarines and satellites

An apparatus for removing CO2 from fluids has two electrodes, the face of one of which is in contact with the fluid. The electrodes are enclosed between porous non-conducting sheets, and the space in which they stand is filled with a microporous matrix impregnated with a soln. of potash. The appts. is simple, more economical to construct and more reliable than known equipment using alkaline absorbants, needing an absorber, a regenerator and a pump and the use of expensive materials e.g. platinum.
