Method for absorption of atmospheric carbon dioxide to compensate carbon dioxide emitted from e.g. transport source, involves capturing atmospheric carbon dioxide by carbonation of obtained calcium hydroxide for forming calcium carbonate
The method involves performing calcination of limestone rocks containing calcium carbonate for emitting carbon dioxide and calcium oxide. The carbon dioxide emitted by the calcination is captured without dilution. The emitted carbon dioxide is stored in a deep geological site. Calcium hydroxide of the calcium oxide emitted by the calcination is hydrated. Atmospheric carbon dioxide is captured by carbonation of the obtained calcium hydroxide for forming the calcium carbonate. The formed calcium carbonate is recycled by the calcination.
