1481098 Laminated paper ASEA AB 16 Sept 1974 [17 Sept 1973] 40176/74 Heading B5N [Also in Division H1] A composite paper tape is built up from at least two paper layers which are joined to each other pointwise directly by means of fibres which are part of or attached to, the paper layers. The fibres joining the layers preferably are of cellulose. The pointwise joining permits impregnation of the composite tape by insulating fluids. Preferably the fibres in the various layers are oriented during manufacture by directing the flow of pulp and adjusting the width of the outlet of the head boxes (10d, 11d, 12d, 13d, Fig. 1, not shown) so that inner layers 11f, 12f have fibres 22 transverse to the direction of movement of the wire bands on which the paper is moved and the outer layers 10f, 13f have fibres 21 parallel to the direction of motion. Additional fibres, preferably of cellulose, of a greater length than those included in the layers may be blown between the layers before these are brought together at rolls (14, 15, 16, 17, Fig. 1) to form the composite product (19).
