Flat film X-ray cassette - has convex curved intensifying screens with sponge and air cushions

The cassette is designed to ensures that the flat X-ray film and the two intensifying screens are brought into close and even contact over their entire contact area. The front screen is fitted to an elastic pressure plate which is convexly curved towards the film. The rear screen is fitted to a support foil which is stretched over a frame by means of tension springs. The frame is fitted with a spring load back plate which bears against an airtight air cushion containing a lenticular foam panel. The entire frame can be moved towards and away from the film by a variable control to ensure even contact pressure for improved definition and reduced scatter effects.
