The male part (6) of a key holder has hollow tapped posts (11) which hold the female part by means of screws. At the top there is a curved depression (14) extended into an opening (15) receiving a guide through which cord passes. The holder is locked by projections (22) mounted on shoes (23) and fitted into slots in the female part. The cord is rolled round the peripheral groove of a drum which is carried by a central axle (8). A leaf spring (39) is lodged in the drum between a slot in the axle and a slot in the periphery of a central groove (38).
