Fire escape for tall buildings - has vertical slide pole in tower with spring-loaded flaps

The fire escape system involves at each floor level an escape door (2), normally closed, leading into a tower (1) on the outer side of the building and running from top to bottom. A pole (3), in sections and fitted together using socket joints for smoothness, is installed inside the tower, being fixed (11) top and bottom. At each floor level, in the tower, is a floor trap door (4), comprising four segmental flaps closing around the pole to form one plane surface. This trap door is spring loaded to remain closed, but opens downwards under a person's weight when sliding down the pole. A resilient pad at ground level breaks the descent.
